Ahmed Iqbairi (Libya), Hyundai Capital’s newest foreign player in men’s professional volleyball, joined the Hyundai Capital Volleyball team on July 21.
He played for Samsung Fire last season under the name ‘Iqbairi’, but this season he chose ‘Ahmed’ as his registered name.
Ahmed, who wore a Hyundai Capital jersey through the Korea Volleyball Organization (KOVO) Foreign Player Tryout Draft held in May in Turkkiye Istanbul, arrived in Korea on May 19 after completing the African Men’s Volleyball Championship.
The Libyan national team finished third in the tournament with Ahmed at the helm, and he was named the tournament’s Best Aggressive Spiker after scoring a team-high 37 points in the semifinals against Algeria.
Ahmed’s family is a well-known volleyball family in Libya.
He played alongside his brother Mohammed on the Libyan national team this time around, and his father, Abu Rubaba Al-Kharibi, is considered one of the country’s best players of the 1980s.
Ahmed said, “This is my second season in Korea and I have high expectations. I will make good results at Hyundai Capital without regrets,” he said.
Choi Tae-woong, head coach of Hyundai Capital, said, “We will help Ahmed adapt to the team quickly and let him fully utilize his talents to make a good impact.”
Ahmed will begin training with his teammates at the Cheonan Castle of Skywalkers from the 22nd. 토토사이트
